SHORT BIOGRAPHY

  • Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767, in the Waxhaws region between North Carolina and South Carolina. A lawyer and a landowner, he became a national war hero after defeating the British in New Orleans during the War of 1812. Jackson was elected the seventh president of the United States in 1828.Mar 14, 2016

How HE CAME INTO OFFICE

  • He was nominated for president in 1824 and lost John Quincy Adams he was nominated again in1828 and won
  • He succeeded past John Quincy Adams

What WAS HIS PROGRAM

  • First and only president to pay off the entire national debt
  • Dismantled the second bank of the United States in 1832 on policy grounds
  • Relocated the Indians through Indian removal act

OBSTACLES

  • The nullification bill passed by the sc legislature which threatened to start major civil unrest
  • The national bank which used federal funds to help them get richer but did little to nothing for the lower class people

  • He served 2 year a total of 8 years then resigned
  • He died on June 18 ,1845

  • He was a great president that got things done and did some controversial things
