Environment
The Boogus Garu lives in a desert environment. It is a hot dry climate. Because it is so hot, the Boogus Garu lives in an under ground burrow and only comes out at night. It gets its water form the plants it eats. The water is kept in a lump on its back.

Adaptations

Predators
The Boogus Garu has to watch out for mountain lions, coyotes, and Eagles. Luckily, it has reflective scales that help to camouflage it. It also has fangs with poison to help it defend itself. Unlike many animals it has sonar to help it see predators in the dark.

Diet
The Boogus Garu is a carnivore. It eats mice, lizards, non-poisonous snakes, and rabbits. It's camouflage helps it hide and wait for prey. It then leaps on its victim and attacks with its sharp fangs and poisonous venom. It can also use its sonar to sense prey in the dark.

Offspring
The Boogus Garu is a reptile so it has eggs. It normally has 4 eggs that hatch in about a week. After they hatch they ride on the mother's back, or in a pouch on her belly if there's danger.

The Boogus Garu is a fascinating desert animal. Next time you're in the desert keep your eyes open for this unique reptile. You would have to go at night since it is nocturnal. Good luck seeing him with his reflective camouflage. Can you see him in the picture? Remember not to get too close. He is poisonous!
