  • 14,000 years ago, people from Asia were the first ones to discovered chile.

  • Chile is a country of extreme beauty and startling contrasts. Attractions range from the towering volcanic peaks of the Andes to the foggy ancient forests of the Lake District.
  • Chile lies closer to the Antarctic circle than any other country because it stretches so far from north to south chile has a varied climate that can be divided into three major climatological regions: the northern (arid), central (Mediterranean)

  • Chiles government is based on a democratic republican framework state.
  • The president of chile is both the head of the state and head of the government. The judicial branch functions independently
  • A presidential term in chile is 4 years just like in the US. The chile flag is red white and blue banner with a white star. The chile flag was made official on October 18, 1817 just before chile won its independence from Spain.

CHILE'S HOLIDAYS

  • January they celebrate New Years with fire works as we do
  • In April they celebrate Semana Santa ( Holy Week) which leads up to Easter
  • September 18th marks chiles most important civic holiday, Independence Day.
  • In December Christmas occurs in the Southern Hemispheres summer and many Chileans celebrate with family barbecues or outings to the beach. Most attend mass on Christmas Eve.
