Two different words,tuff and tough. Tuff is the gangs word for "cool". Tough is the same as rough.

She is in one of the gangs, the socs. She and ponyboy are like the same. The both like e sunset. The both want the socs and greasers to be "friends" and they both like each other as a friend

Ponyboy and Johnny stay there for a short time. The cops where looking for both of them. So they stayed at a village named windrixville.

Ponyboy had to bleach is hair because it will give him a different look so the cops wont recognize him. They also did not want to be in the news paper.
