PRESENTATION OUTLINE

EXTREME INVIORMENT IN THE DESERT

BY AMY

People live in hot deserts by adapting their bodies and lives to the environment in the desert. Their bodies sweat less to avoid loss of water, they avoid exposing themselves to the sun during the day and live in white coloured houses. People may choose to live in deserts since the climate is much warmer, job market is less competitive and cost of housing is much lower.

What do people eat

Nomadic people of the Desert people eat: goat, camel, wild birds, some species of insects (such as locust), camel and goat milk and wild honey (when they can get hold of it)

Where do people live

The desert people live in many different kind of homes like hogans and adobe houses or pueblos.

The clothes that people wear

Light white robes of easily porous material (such as muslin), in order for the skin to "breathe" underneath, and generally white or light-colored, in order to reflect the sun's heat. Head coverings protect from sunburn, as well. In this country's southwest, lightweight, light colored shirts and pants are best, along with a straw hat (and sunscreen!).

How do people get water in the desert

From the inside of cactus, or they can find the nearest water source (if any)
