• Biodiversity means the diversity, or variety, of plants and animals and other living things
• In a particular area or region

CAUSES

• Alterations and loss of habitats
• Introduction of exotic species and genetically modified organisms
• Pollution
• Climate change
• Over exploitation of resources

ANTHROPOGENIC OR NATURAL CAUSE?

• Biodiversity loss and extinction is both anthropogenic and a natural cause. The human species is the main cause of the decline of the diversity of plants and animals. In certain areas though, some species are increasing.

EFFECT

• Biodiversity is the total genetically based variety of all organisms in the biosphere
