We will demonstrate collaborative and inventive approaches to education and training for liberal studies, careers, interests and emerging learner markets.

Innovative Tools

Teaching our students for the future--I am pursuing a PhD in a career field that didn't exist when I was an undergraduate student. How did I end up here? How do we help our students do something new or different when they may not know the path, or it may not have even been invented yet?

ePortfolio possibilities for Students
What is an ePortfolio, and what are the benefits and reasons we'd use it?

Three types of portfolios-- learning/education showcase, employment showcase, assessment showcase.

3 Portfolio Types

Learning  |  Assessment  |  employment
1. For self-reflection about an individual's performance
2. For a collective assessment across a course or assignment
3. For providing information of interest to future employers

Two Examples

EET 102 and SWK 121
EET: Employment purposes
SWK: Education purposes

What does it look like in practice?

Success

One way we know it works
We connected a year ago after Mark and I introduced the tool in the EET 102 class.

He left NMC this summer for a job in the field.

Two months ago, he updated his profile to demonstrate that.
