THE EARTH

  • Planet Earth can be divided into three areas well differentiated by the state of its matter.

Atmosphere

  • A layer of air surrounding the earth. It works as a protective shield for the planet.

GEOSPHERE

  • The solid and superficial part of the Earth encompassing the continents and seabed.

HYDROSPHERE

  • Made up of all the water present above and below the Earth.

OCEAN WATERS

  • Seawater, or salt water, is water from a sea or ocean. On average, seawater in the world's oceans has a salinity of about 3.5% (35 g/L, 599 mM).

INLAND OR CONTINENTAL WATERS

  • The are located within the continents. They are rivers, streams, lagoons, lake and groundwater.(these are mostly fresh water)

ATMOSPHERIC WATERS

  • These may be in the form of steam or tiny droplets that form clouds. They represent a very small fraction off the total amount water.

THE HYDROSPHERE:ENVIRONMENT OF THE FIRST LIVING THING ON THE PLANET

  • In the beginning, the temperature of the planet was much higher than it is today, since it had not cooled enough, and high concentrations of CO2 have a green house effect.
