Research the Company to Answer:

  • Why would you like to work for us?
  • How did you hear about this opening?
  • What material have you read about our organization?
  • What do you know about our products or services?
  • What do you know about the history of our organization?
  • Can you tell me what the company's most important values are

Before the Interview

  • Become an expert on the company
  • Research the interviewer(s) online
  • Practice your elevator pitch: elaborate on why your background and skills are perfect for the job
  • Schedule the interview not too early and never on a Monday
  • Revise your LinkedIn profile

Interview Day

  • Dress the color that matches the image of yourself you want to present and know the organizational culture
  • Arrive early and wait in a coffee shop
  • Be nice to all and don't use your phone
  • Keep the age of the interviewer in mind
  • Shake the interviewer's hand firmly and smile...then exchange small talk
  • Speak the same body language

Interview Time

  • Expect success
  • Focus on others
  • Know when to keep talking
  • Know when to stop talking
  • Come to a conclusion...make your point and provide a summary sentence
  • Ask questions
  • Know what's next

  • Can you give me your strengths and weaknesses?
  • Why do you want to work here?

  • Focus on your brand
  • Lead with keyword-rich accomplishments
  • Choose your words carefully
  • Use the STAR format
  • Quantify anything that you can- numbers impress
  • Emphasize your extras
  • Watch out for illegal questions
