The scientific question we are trying to answer is can a person drink water from a water bottle while going through the loop of a roller coaster

EQUATIONS USED

  • To find the normal force at the top of the loop, we used Fn + Fg = ma ; so Fn = mv^2/r - mg
  • To find the velocity of the coaster at the top of the loop, V = 8 times the square root of h-2r

OUR THEORY

  • We found out that Fn = 2.89
  • Because normal force is positive, the water would be going towards the earth while you are upside down

In conclusion, no you would not be able to drink water at the top of a loop in a roller coaster because the force of gravity is greater than the centripetal force, so the water would be pulled towards the ground
