Responsive Scripture

Leader - Some Christians believe that faith is a personal matter that should be kept to oneself. It is true that we shouldn't be boisterous or obnoxious in sharing our faith, but we should always be ready to give an answer, gently and respectfully, when asked about our faith, our lifestyle, or our Christian perspective. Can others see your hope in Christ? Are you prepared to tell them what Christ has done in your life?

All - Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.
1 Peter 3:15

Leader - If you have experienced Jesus' power in your life, are you enthusiastically sharing the good news with those around you? Just as we would tell others about a doctor who cured a physical disease, we should tell about Christ who cures our sin.

All - But Jesus said, “No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been.”
Mark 5:19

Leader - Because we have been reconciled to God, we have the privilege of encouraging others to do the same.

All - And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19

Leader - We are to go—whether it is next door or to another country—and make disciples. It is not an option but a command to all who call Jesus "Lord."

All - Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20

Leader - God has important work for you to do for him, but you must do it by the power of the Holy Spirit. We need God's timing and power to be truly effective. Boldness is not reckless impulsiveness. Boldness requires courage to press on through our fears and do what we know is right. How can we be more bold? Like the disciples, we need to pray with others. To gain boldness, you can pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to give you courage, and look for opportunities in your family and neighborhood to talk about Christ.

All - After this prayer, the meeting place shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. Then they preached the word of God with boldness.
Acts 4:31

Teach me how to love thee,
Teach me how to pray,
Teach me how to serve thee,
better day by day
Teach me how to serve thee,
better day by day

Lord, I will lift mine eyes to the hills
Knowing my help is coming from You
Your peace, You give me in time of the storm
You are the source of my strength
You are the strength of my life
I lift my hands in total praise to you
You are the source of my strength
You are the strength of my life
I lift my hands in total praise to you
Amen
