PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Do you think colleges or future employers have the right to look at your Facebook or Twitter? Why or Why not?
Yes, I think that colleges and employers can, and should look at your social media accounts. I think this because they need to know what type of person they will be potentially hiring or accepting.
Do you think you should judge someone based solely on what you find about them online? Why or why not?
No, I don't think that you should judge people based solely on what they post online because people might make mistakes or not necessarily see how posting something could affect them. While I do think we should be cautious of what we post online, we should also judge people more on what we see in real life than what they post online.
Abba says that he thinks colleges would actually “kind of like his Facebook page.” What are some examples of how you can create a positive digital footprint for yourself?
A few things that you could do to create a positive digital footprint are posting pictures of volunteer work, or bringing awareness to sensitive subjects such as bullying. I personally have photos of my dogs, and dogs at the shelter I volunteer for, and I think that if a college looked at my social media I would actually have a higher chance of getting accepted.
If you knew a college or future employer would look at your Facebook and or Twitter today, would you hurry to your computer so you could take some items down? Why or why not?
I would leave all of my photos up because I think that they reflect my personality, and what I would be bringing to the table if I got accepted or hired. For instance, I post drawings and landscape photography that I think portrays my creative skills.
