The labour market is operating at or close to full capacity.

This is good news for workers and jobseekers but not for employers!

Here are some key facts that will impact 2019, taken from Labour Market Outlook and ONS.

The proportion of companies that have vacancies and report recruitment difficulties has increased to around 70% compared to 61% six months ago.

Companies with hard-to-fill
vacancies report that on average 43% of their total vacancies are proving hard to fill, compared to 30% of vacancies in the spring.

Employment rates are at 75.5%.
350,000 more people in employment
than the same time last year.

Unfilled Vacancies are at an all-time record - 840,000 openings, compared
to 500,000 in 2013.

The youth unemployment rate is 16.4% -close to its lowest level since comparable records began in 1992.
