WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE?

FACTS ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is a change in climate patterns that lead to long term effects

Its changes in the atmosphere along with interactions with the atmosphere and other factors within the Earth.

WHAT DOES CLIMATE CHANGE EFFECT?

PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTAL

CLIMATE CHANGE CAN EFFECT

  • Anything living around ocean areas with high sea levels
  • People/animals in dry places (ex: California/Australia)
  • Pretty much everything on earth with varied temperatures
  • Animal and Human habits

WHAT IS THE IMPACT ON THE ENVIRONMENT/PEOPLE?

IMPACTS

  • More human and agricultural deaths
  • Flooding homes/habitats
  • Droughts
  • Bad weather

SEA LEVELS RISING

WHAT IS IT?

RISING SEA LEVELS:

  • It’s pretty self explanatory that the sea levels are rising. According to Wikipedia the 3 main reasons for sea levels rising are “oceans expand, ice sheets lose ice faster than it forms from snowfall, and glaciers at higher altitudes also melt”.

The space program chose to make there launch area on a barrier island for safety reasons and due to climate change, the island is at risk to flooding

By 2050, the sea levels are estimated to rise 5-8 inches so to prevent this flooding NASA will build a large dome around the island to prevent the flooding in future years.

COSTAL FLOODING

MAJOR COSTAL CITIES

According to cbs news, major costal cities are estimated to be flooded by 2050. CBS news states that “over 3000 million people will be waterlogged in just 30 years”

THE FOLLOWING CHARTS ON THE NEXT SLIDES SHOW WHAT COULD BE FLOODED BY 2050 IF WE DONT MAKE CHANGE NOW. (Red)

Climate change is a serious topic and if we don’t make changes now, we don’t know how much longer all living things have on earth until we suffer.
