If wetlands were gone we would have more floods. But wetlands stop floods happening. The mud sucks in all the water and the new water goes in and the mud is more squelchy but the new water is clean. Eventually the water will dry out and the old water will come back into the wetland and the animals will be able to drink again.
Fresh water wetlands are found all over the world in law land areas or along rivers, lakes and streams.
Some wetlands are temporary and seasonal. They occur for a few weeks at a time and they disappear until they are refilled with water. Other wetlands are always underwater.
We got to try and save the wetlands but people are polluting them even more. People put rubbish and cardboard and other leftover stuff just because they are to lazy to put it in the bin.
