Drug Abuse in teens

by: Francisco Montenegro

5 reasons why teens use drugs

  • Peer presure from other students
  • a way to from anxiety or depression.
  • To improve their performance
  • to feel included or grown up.
  • for experimentation (just because)

Peer pressure: Teens will pressure kids into using drugs because its "cool". Teens will also make other teens feel bad for not doing drugs, which leads to them wanting to fit in so they do the drugs.

Anxiety or depression: Kids who have to much going on in their lives like losing a family member or have a abusive relationship with their parents can often leave the kid feeling trapped, so they use drugs to help them escape the pain they are feeling.

Performance: Teens might use drugs because they are trying to get a higher grade on a test so that their parents wont be mad at them or so their parents wont abuse them physically.

To feel included: Kids might want to use drugs because they feel like they are a grown up, or want to feel like one.

Experimentation: Kids might just want to use drugs to see how it is and how it works.
