• This symbol represents cole being trusted, and him discovering how nice it feels to be trusted by someone, and to not break that trust.
• "The beaver got so close...he regretted that he broke the animals trust... He wondered how many times he had done that to people." (P186)

POND

• It represents cole being given a choice to heal or not to heal.
• "When I soaked, the pond gave me a choice." (P145)

THE TOTEM

• It represents what cole learns when he dances around the fire, as well as all the animals he's seen and his ancestry.
• "Carve the totem of the animals, if you discover what lies in the wood you can discover what lies in you" (P175)

THE SNICKER BAR

• It may seem like a small and seemingly non important object, but it represents that cole now no longer wishes to hurt Peter, he wants to help him heal and he wants them to become friends.
• "I'm not going to hurt you, I just brought you this." (P218)

ANCESTRY ROCK

• It represents Cole's ancestors up until the moment he pushes the rock down the summit, at that moment he lets go of his ancestors and turns the rock into his anger.
• "Pretend the rock is your ancestors, you take them with you but leave your anger" (P155)
