  • They established the first empire to establish itself in the land of Israel.

BABYLONIANS

  • Babylonians were from Iraq. They lived between the Tigris and the Euphrates river.
  • They were smart powerful and ruled much of the world.

  • The country of Iran was once called Persia.

GREEKS

  • The Greeks believed in many gods making them polytheistic.
  • Greeks allowed the Jews to practice their religion even though they believed in one God.

ROMANS

  • The Romans kicked out the Jews and renamed Israel to Palestine.
  • They destroyed Jewish temples and made Jews slaves.
  • Then the Jews fled to Europe but they thought that the land was still theirs.

  • The Muslim Arabs moved into Palestine.
  • They believe the land is theirs now that the Jews left.
  • Jews said that they were forced out but really they actually left.

OTTOMAN TURKS

  • The Muslims of Turkey.
  • They became one of the most powerful civilizations the world had ever seen.
  • Ruled Middle East for more than 3,000 years.

BRITISH

  • The British took over Palestine after WW1.
  • They made two promises, they promised Palestinians independence from the Ottoman Turks and the Jewish zionists a homeland.

  • In 1948 the United Nations declared Israel a homeland for Jews.
  • Jews celebrate while the Palestinians were raging with angry.
