Transpiration

Water gets sucked up by the roots which are the first part of a plant to grow.

Then the water rises up through the stem into the xylem which is tiny tubes that run throughout the plant.

After the water runs through the xylems into the leaves it reaches the stomates and the guard cells.

The stomates hold water and then releases it as water vapor. The guard cells control the stomates. An example is that the guard cells keep the stomates from filling up with to much with water. Also they keep them in place.

Water vapor is part of the gaseous state and is part of the evaporation stage of the water cycle.
