Charles Darwin was an English naturalist, geologist, and biologist.
Darwin was born on the same day as Abraham Lincoln. They were both born on February 12, 1809
Darwin is the grandson of two famous abolitionists.
He waited more than 20 years to publish his theory on evolution.
Charles Darwin set sail the HMS Beagle on December 27, 1831. He had 73 other men on the ship.
Charles had 10 children. He had 6 boys and 4 girls.
He was given credit for his discovery of evolution.
He stopped at Madeira Island on January 4, 1832.
Abroad the HMS Beagle Darwin dug up fossils of extinct mammals such as the ground sloth.
He experienced an earthquake that lifted the ocean floor 2.7 meters above sea level.
Darwin made observations about a cuddle-fish he saw swim around the island he was on.
