BASIC FACTS

  • Alberto Giacometti was a Swiss painter and sculptor
  • He was born on 10th October 1901 in Switzerland
  • When he grew up he went to an art school call school of fine arts.
  • When WW2 has stopped, his sculptures became more thinner and skinnier.
  • He moved to Paris and studied with a sculptor call Antoine Bordelle

Alberto once said that he wasn't sculpting the human body, he was sculpting the shadows it cast.

Process of the sculptures
Alberto mostly made it out of soft modeling clay on armature of metal. Then, they were molded and cast in bronze. However, some of his works was made out of stone.

In 2000, one of his sculptures call L'homme qui marche was sold for 65 million!

As years passed by, Alberto's style or sculpture evolved. However, sadly he died in 1966 because, he was suffering from a heart disease and chronic bronchitis. Luckily, his artworks were passed on to his families and grand sons...
