LIGHTBULB HISTORY

  • The first electric light was created in 1880 by Humphrey Davey
  • Even though Humphrey Davey created the first electric light, Thomas Jefferson patented the "Light Bulb"
  • At first no one bought Light Bulbs, but after a couple of years they became more common.

The Lightbulb was created to provide light as an alternative to fire and candles, which had been used for thousands of years.Today they are still used to provide light, but we have newer versions of the Lightbulb that are less harmful on the environment.

LIGHTBULB INNOVATIONS

  • The Lightbulb is an Incandescent Bulb, and uses a lot of energy, so newer versions had to be made.
  • One innovation of the Lightbulb is the CFL (swirly Lightbulb) that uses heated Mercury gas to generate light, but when they break they release Mercury gas that is very toxic to humans, so CFL are quite impractical.
  • One of the most recent innovations if the Lightbulb is the LED. A single LED bulb lasts for about 7 years and uses 85% less energy than CFLs and Incandescents combined.
  • Also, LEDs come in a wide variation of colors and shapes, providing choices for people who want to use an energy-efficient, spectacular bulb.

Positive and Negative impacts of Lightbulbs
A positive impact that the lightbulb provided was it allowed people light without burning their house down! LEDs are especially helpful because the are extremely energy-efficient and compact. But, one negative impact of the Lightbulb is the energy factor. All Lightbulbs use energy, but buying an LED can help reduce energy and save the energy.

THE END!
