WHAT DOES IT EAT?

• gatherers
• food source: small insects and coastal plants
• ex: sea oats, beach grasses
• at night, gathers sea oat seeds and stores them at its burrow

WHERE DOES IT LIVE?

• beaches
• live in dunes that are just above high tide
• live ONLY in dune habitats

THREATS

• coastal development
• ex: construction of homes= destruction of dunes
• domestic cats are threats as well

• without these creatures:
• homeostasis would be disturbed
