Stanza 1- In the dark "night", they thank "the gods" for their bravery.
Stanza 2 - In all ot their adversity, they never gave in, or "unbowed".
Stanza 3 - In this dreadful place, the dangers have never frightened him.
Stanza 4 - In whatever position they may be, they control their "fate".
