DONAL WALSH

  • Donal Walsh was born and raised in Kerry
  • He went to primary school in The Spa, Tralee
  • He played GAA Football with Kerin’s O’Rahilly’s
  • He played Rugby with Tralee RFC.

  • At 12years of age Donal was diagnosed with Osteo Sarcoma (Bone Cancer) in his tibia
  • he had an operation to give him a prosthetic knee and nine months of chemotherapy
  • In February 2012 the Cancer returned but this time to his lung
  • Donal had another operation to have half of his lung removed
  • And then had another round of chemotherapy treatment

  • Donal fund raised tirelessly while battling Cancer
  • He now has the Donal Walsh #Livelife Foundation
  • It was set up by his family
  • Primarily in order to promote his anti-suicide #Livelife message.
  • This will provide better teenage facilities in hospitals

'I realised that I was fighting for my life for the third time in four years and this time I have no hope. Yet still I hear of young people committing suicide and I’m sorry but it makes me feel nothing but anger.

I feel angry that these people choose to take their lives, to ruin their families and to leave behind a mess that no one can clean up'
