"Human rights"

Danna Sofia Garcia Velasquez

The foundation of human rights is the dignity of individuals and peoples. In different times and places, people, societies, and States have contributed, in different ways, to the recognition of rights throughout the world today. To know and demand them, we have to know how they were achieved, how compliance is guaranteed, and how we can support them so that they are increasingly respected.

Human rights protect our dignity, establishing that any situation that violates it ignores our value as people. This means that every person is recognized with the right to live free from arbitrary intervention by the State and to request the State to take certain actions so that we can enjoy a fuller life. That is to say, on the one hand, they assure us that the State, through its different organs and powers (Executive, Legislative and Judicial), and the action of its officials, officials and members of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement and Security, will respect our rights and will not commit abuse or discrimination against us

The value and importance of people's dignity were not always recognized and for a long time, human rights were denied to many individuals and groups, causing suffering and violating their integrity.
