ZIKA VIRUS

We are going to be talking about Zika, a virus that makes babies deformed or have health issues, and makes you ill.

SYMPTOMS

  • Fever
  • Rash
  • Joint pain
  • Conjunctivitis (red eyes)
  • Symptoms usually last from several days to a week.

TRANSMISSIONS

  • The "Aedes" mosquito bites you.
  • You can get it through Sexual contact and blood transfusion.
  • A mother can, but rarely pass it to the baby in her stomach.
  • Aedes are daytime biters.

TREATMENT

  • Get plenty of rest
  • Drink fluids to prevent dehydration.
  • Take medicine to relieve pain.
  • Do no take non- steroidal anti- inflammatory drugs.

PREVENTION

  • Wear long sleeves and pants.
  • Stay somewhere were mosquitos don't go.
  • Wear insect repellant.
  • There is no vaccine yet.
  • Don't have sexual intercourse with anyone who has Zika.
