  • 8 men selected by king Charles II
  • They were rewarded with massive amounts of land of north and south Carolina for their support in king Charles II effort to regain the throne.

The Carolinas Were Founded...

  • November 21, 1789

Religion

  • The Carolinas had religius freedom but the most common religions were Baptists and Anglicans.
  • Baptists believed in god and strictly followed the bibal and believed in the baptism of voluntary belivers.

Religion continued...

  • Anglicans believe the Catholic and apostolic faith is revealed in holy scripture and the catholic creeds and interpret these in light of the Christian tradition of the historic church, scholarship, reason and experience. However, they do not believe in the virgin mary.

Geography

  • The Carolinas were mostly coastal plains, plateau and mountain ranges.
  • Living in that condition helped the plantations and farmlands.(Plus the weather is very nice over here!)

Economy

  • The people made money by trading tobacco, corn, cotton, livestock, vegetables, grain and fruit.

FUN FACTS!

  • The original name for North Carolina was The provenance of North Carolina, later North Carolina of Tennessee.
  • The word Carolina is derived by the latin name for Charles.
  • In 1776 South Carolina Colony set up their own independent goverment and John Rutledge was appointed presidant.
