WHAT IS A DOUGHBOY

  • A Doughboy is a U.S. Infantryman
  • Doughboys got their names from their 4 buttons on their uniform looking like floor dumpling of dough cakes
  • Doughboys were sent to France to fight for our country

ABOUT DOUGHBOYS

  • Had to carry around 70 lb
  • Usually used the 1903 Springfield Rifle
  • Normally did whatever they could to keep themselves entertained

ABOUT TRENCH WARFARE

  • There was a place called no mans land
  • There was a firing trench that let them throw grenades and shoot their rifles
  • There were around 8.5 to 12 million deaths just from trench warfare
  • There was a M1897 trench gun that could shoot long range

ABOUT THE X-MAS TRUCE

  • They played soccer together, the Germans won 2-1
  • 2 British Soldiers died from 2 German Snipers
  • It lasted 9 hours
  • They went right back to fighting the next day
