CHILD HOOD

  • Duke was born in Washington D.C
  • He started piano lessons at age 7
  • His mom was Daisy Kennedy Ellington and his father was James Edward Ellington
  • They where both pianist and played at barbers.

  • He even won 9 Grammys! 9 Grammys thats a lot.

  • He ended his playing times in 1974
  • He started preforming with his band when he was 18.
