WHAT IS BULLYING?

  • Bullying is where one person has more power over the victim, giving them unneeded aggression, and can repeat over time.

TYPES OF BULLYING

  • There are 5 types of bullying each hurting the victim in many ways. Firstly there is physical bullying, verbal bullying, relational bullying, cyber bullying, and prejudicial bullying.

PHYSICAL BULLYING

  • Physical bullying is when a bully often hits or pushes the victim, showing everyone that they have power.

VERBAL BULLYING

  • Verbal bullying is when the bully uses name calling to hurt his/her victim.

RELATIONAL BULLYING

  • Relational bullying is when the bully tries to ruin your social standing. They usually spread rumors or make your friends turn on you indirectly.

CYBER BULLING

  • In this type of bullying the bully uses the Internet to bully the victim, harassing them, embarrassing them and disrespecting them. Cyber bullying also leads to some suicide attempts.

PREJUDICIAL BULLYING

  • Prejudicial bullying is where the bully insults the victims race, religion, or gender.

PEER PRESSURE

  • What is peer pressure?
  • Peer Pressure is where someone convinces or influences you to do something like smoke or have drugs, it is usually done harshly.

  • There are three ways to react to a bullying/peer pressure situation when you are the victim. First you can be passive where you mumbling and shy, that only encourages the bully he can do it again.
  • Next is aggressive responses where you often scream at them or even fight them. This can either make the bully back off or challenge him/her.
  • The last response is an assertive response where you speak calm and straightforward, telling the bully your not afraid of him/her. This is often the best response to go with

SAYING NO TO BULLYING/PEER PRESSURE

  • In order to get the bully off your back there are many assertive ways to say NO.
  • Just say no in a strong and confident voice.
  • Ignore and leave the situation.
  • Make them back off by telling them your not scared.

WAYS TO SEEK HELP

  • First you can stick with your friends so the bully will think twice about bullying you.
  • Another way to seek help is to tell teachers or parents because they have much more power over the bully.

WHO CAN HELP

  • Mrs. Mathy can help because her job is to resolve problems in school.
  • Ms. Daily can help she also has a job that resolves fights in school.
  • Mr. Leonas can also help because he is the principal so he can stop the bully.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

  • Firstly you can stand up for the victim and tell the bully to stand down.
  • You can also comfort the victim and be his friend.
  • Lastly you can just tell a adult.
