The Mishler Theatre is located at 1208 Twelfth Avenue in Altoona, Pennsylvania.

The Mishler is a historical structure that opened in 1960.

But in the same year burned down.

One of the significant aspects of the Mishler Theatre is the architecture seeing that the structure itself is an artifact.

The outside architecture includes two Greek Muses. Melpomene, the Greek
Muse of Tragedy holding a mask and Terpsichore the Greek Muse of Dance holding a
lyre. In between the Greek Muses are four porthole windows, below the windows are
four painted Greek Muses made to look like mosaics. The four paintings include Erato,
Thalia, Clio, and Calliope. Inside the theatre there has been a lot of restoration

The Mishler theatre has community friendly productions all year round.

From musicals to dance productions, plays and orchestras. The Mishler also holds seasonal productions. This year for Halloween the The Altoona Symphony Orchestra will perform Nosferatu Halloween

Generally speaking the purpose of the Mishler theatre is to have a historic theatre in the heart of Altoona. With the community behind the historic building the Mishler Theatre succeeds at this.

There a lot of community organisations behind the funding of the mishler theater.
