This presentation explains why Creation and Creationism (the view that God created the worlds from nothing and people as a special creation in His image) is such an important theme in evangelical Christianity.

Divine Creation

As Creator, God Had Dominion and Was Owed Obedience and Reverence By All

Divine Creation was considered a Truism until the 1700s, when it slowly began to be challenged as a worldview, after people became disillusioned with religion (esp. Politicized Christianity in the Western Hemisphere)

failures of politicized religion

  • Corruption Disillusioned People
  • Authority Exploited People
  • Inquisition Controlled People
  • Dogma Overruled People
  • Church Abandoned People

Understanding the Enlightenment and its evil spawn (Modernism, Naturalism, Rationalism, and Liberalism) are important to understand the rejection of Creationism

e-z Glossary

  • Enlightenment: When people realized they could think and live in a world without Divine Authority. The Enlightenment led to Modernism, the Triumph of the Scientific Method (truth based on observable proof).
  • This period led to a radical shift in moods, mores, and morals in the world

E-Z GLOssary

  • Modernism: Rejection of Supernaturalism
  • Naturalism: Everything arises from Natural (nature/material) not spiritual sources
  • Rationalism: Everything must be explained logically with known facts (Age of Reason), not using emotional experiences or divine knowledge
  • Liberalism: Political and moral philosophy of personal freedom and equality of all ideas

Those newly accepted political, moral, ethical, metaphysical, and epistemological philosophies radically shifted society away from biblical authority

The result was that powerful societies (Europe/America) began to explain and live life increasingly without reference to God

One Thorny Issue Remained:
With Biblical Authority Undermined "Human Origin" Needed a New Explanation (besides God) Before the Goal of the Enlightenment Could Be Realized

Evolution (Darwinism & Natural Selection) Redefined Human Nature and Gave All People What the Enlightenment Was Selling:
Absolute Personal Autonomy

Personal Autonomy

not having to answer to anyone, even God

Only Evolution Guarantees Complete Personal Freedom Without Moral Accountability
With Full Sexual Liberty
And Minimalist Ethics

Once Evolution is accepted

  • Animals & Humans become equal
  • No everlasting soul exists
  • No objective standard exists
  • No authoritative morality exists
  • No true religion or Supreme Being exists
  • No Truth; only opinion, exists

With those things gone:

  • Promiscuity is OK
  • Homosexuality is OK
  • Transgenderism is OK
  • Abortion-Infanticide is OK
  • Euthanasia is OK
  • Ethics and Morality are Passe'
  • Might Makes Right
  • Evolution Must Be Protected At All Costs

As a result, Evolution is categorically protected as sacrosanct in our liberated society and Creationism-Creationists are systematically assaulted and discredited

All that remains is to perpetuate the worldview widely and consistently.

This is done by leveraging compulsory education and systematically teaching evolution to children and young people, while shaming dissenters.
