WHO IS MY EXPLORER?
Born around 1567
Died on Christmas day
He was born in a small seaport town in France
He was the first person to accurately map land

He founded the first colony in New France and called it Quebec
Sailed up the St. Lawrence River to Quebec and built settlements
Delivered the furs to the Europeans who wanted them for clothes because there were so many fur bearing animals in Canada and the fur trade was good
He was a map maker

WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT MY EXPLORER AND HIS DISCOVERIES?
He was a risk taker because he wanted to find the Northwest Passage to Asia even though he knew it would be a dangerous journey
He was a thinker because he created and left maps for people to explore Canada in the future
He was a kind person and smart because he created a fur trade and had good relationships with the natives
