Personal connection

Jose Antonio Vargas
Hes a journalist
Born: February 3, 1981 (age 33), Antipolo, Philippines
Parents: Emelie Salinas
Education: San Francisco State University
I use Vargas as a personal connection the reason why is because I think it takes a lot of courage for someone to be outspoken like him. Vargas also discusses the story of undocumented people who are afraid of coming out. The reason why is because a lot of undocumented workers have family of their own and are afraid of them begin taken away from there own family.

Recently we have witnessed 3 trends impacting educational experiences for undocumented Mexican students:
1) a dramatic increase of Mexican-origin people, 2) organized and openly supported anti-immigrants policies with a racial dimension
3)increased participation by politicized migrants in national public discussions on immigrants.

These children are guaranteed an education in U.S. public schools through grade 12, but may face legal and financial barriers to higher education.

Immigration issue

The immigration issue we face now as being either a undocumented student or a undocumented worker is The countries of origin of today’s immigrants are more diverse than they were 50 years ago. In 1960 a full 75% of the foreign-born population residing in the United States came from Europe, while today only 12% of the immigrant population emigrated from Europe. In 2010 11.7 million foreign-born residents—29 percent of the foreign-born population—came from Mexico.

Immigration Reform in America

The President’s plan builds a smart, effective immigration system that continues efforts to secure our borders and cracks down on employers who hire undocumented immigrants. It’s a plan that requires anyone who’s undocumented to get right with the law by paying their taxes and a penalty, learning English, and undergoing background checks before they can be eligible to earn citizenship. It requires every business and every worker to play by the same set of rules.
