Suleyman vigorously promoted Ottoman expansion both in southwest asia and europe. In 1534, he conquered baghdad and added the Tigris and Euphrates valleys to the Ottoman domain, In Europe he kept the rival Habsburg empire on the defense throughout his reign. Under Suleyman, the ottomans also became a major naval power.

In the Battle of Chaldiran, the most immediately noticeable factor in the battle was the absolute superiority of the Ottoman army over the Safavids.
The battle also showcased the effectiveness of new forms of weaponry. The outcome at Chaldiran had many consequences. Perhaps most significantly, it established the border between the two empires, which remains the border between Turkey and Iran today.

Babur, The son of the prince of farghana, was never able to extend his authority much beyond Kabul and Qundahar, so he turned his attention towards india. He mounted invasions in 1523 and 1525 and took delhi in 1526. He decided to stay, and by the time of his death, he had built a loosely knit empire that stretched from Kabul through the Punjab to the borders of Bengal. The Mughal Empires key leaders were Akbar, Babur’s Grandson and Aurangzeb, who helped the Mughal Empire reach its greatest extent.
