History behind it:
Journalism as a whole can be dated back to 1960, age. Benjamin Harris published the 1st installment of “Publick occurrences, both foreign and danestick” in Boston, MA.
Entertainment journalism is one of many branches . Began as the entertainment production begun to rise in the 1920s, due to entertainment becoming so popular.
Journalism has changed as the pace of production grew and the crazy demand people have for gossip.
During the first half of the 20th century , ‘fan magazines’ were intended to help the creation of movie stars and sparked interest from people in regards to their lives. Purpose was to educate leaders on the movie plots and positively promote movies as educational and wholesome. Eventually there was a shift from movies to the talent
Studios lost power by the 50s & 60s and magazines were more open to sharing scandals . Those ‘fan magazines’ went out of business by the early 80s , as more frequent gossip columns/articles came to play.
