My Connection:
When Parvana a was brave it reminded me of the time when our family was hiking on mount Cheam and it was snowing so we couldn't get to the top but my dad got to the top.I was all alone with my brother and my Mom. We had to find a way to help Eric down the mountain because he was little. Parvana, my mom and me were all brave in different ways.

Nooria is disrespectful
Disrespectful: having a lack of courtesy or esteem

Quote: "you look less ugly as a boy than you do as a girl." Nooria said quickly. Pg. 69

My connection to Nooria being disrespectful is that one time I was walking home from school and went to pick up my brother, it was raining and I was cold and wet. When I asked Eric to borrow his umbrella he said "no way suck it up princess!" That made me sad.

Quote: at the first touch of her sister's hands Parvana flinched thinking it was the soldiers. Maryam kept stroking her hair until she realized who it was. She sat up, aching all over. She and Maryam clung to each other trembling. Pg.33

My connection to Maryam is that when I was at a place called Fort Steel camping I found a hidden horse pen when I walked up to the pen I found some long grass and held it in my hand out to the horse worried. When the hose approached me she ate it right off of my hand and when I patted the horse she was very gentle. Just like Maryam was to Parvana.
