R is for real When Ponyboy meets cherry for the first time, he notices that she isn't scared of him. Cherry not a normal girl. She's a Socs but doesn't act like one would. And he likes the fact that she's not swearing and being rude like a greaser girl would. Ponyboy sees that Cherry stands out from the rest if the girls he's met. He sees Cherry as just being a girl, a real girl. Not one pretending to be better than she actually is.
S is for sunset Ponyboy and cherry talk for the first time about a sunset. And they both say they see the same sunset. But really they aren't talking about a sunset. It's rough everywhere is what cherry told Ponyboy. The sunset symbolizes life or problems. Because each person has problems and live a life with problems. They say Socs have it better but they really don't they are human and have problems too, just like the greasers.
T is for Tuff In the town of Tulsa there's two different toughs. Ones tough like strong. And theres tuff which is the way you look. The greasers each try to achieve to be both of them in some way. Wether it's the clothes they wear or how they act.
U is for unfathomable Ponyboy is hard to understand. He's a greaser because of where he lives and how much money he has. But the way he acts and the things he does, wouldn't t be something a greaser does. Ponyboy loves to read and watch movies, he even watches the sunset sometimes. Which seems like something a Socs does. But Ponyboy doesn't want to be a Socs or a greaser. So then where does Ponyboy really fit in.
V is for visions Ponyboys been kicked in the head repeatedly by a Socs at the rumble. He just watched his best friend die. And now he watches as Dallas hits his breaking point and kills himself. Ponyboy isn't feeling the best and starts to see things as the world starts to spin around him. He doesn't see faces anymore just blobs. And now is starting to see visions. The next minute he hits the ground.
W is for Wind The book Gone With The Wind is what Johnny and Ponyboy read well they were hiding. Johnny loved reading the book. Johnny felt as if he relate to the book. Because he saw that the things going on in the book were happening to him.
X is for experiences Each person has an experience they don't want to remember. Like when Ponyboy saw Johnny die. Whenever somebody says that Johnny is dead, he says to himself that Johnny isn't dead, or says it to the person. Ponyboy still hasn't had the full effect that Johnny is really gone. Darry realizes this and tells Ponyboy he needs to realize this and get over it. Everybody looses someone.
Y is for young Before Johnny dies he tells Ponyboy to stay gold. What Johnny means by that is to keep the innocence he has. Don't let the world corrupt him. He wants Ponyboy to stay young and have that same feeling as being young. Don't do something like he did, stay gold.
Z is for zero Ponyboy finally went back to school. He wasn't doing so good, he started to slack and not do his work. But at lunch one day him and two-bit went to the store to get pop and cigarettes, but some Socs pulled up. Ponyboy was thinking to himself what was he feeling. But he had realized that he wasn't scared or afraid. He didn't have a feeling at the moment. There was just nothing there, just like zero.
