PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Location:
Greece is located in Europe near the Agean Sea. Greece is near Rome and is found at the bottom of Europe.
City State:
There were a lot of city states in ancient Greece. The most popular cities were Troy,Sparta,Athens,Thebes, and Cornith.
The Golden Age:
Pericles was a lead figure during the Golden Age. The Parthenon was built for Athea whom the people of Athens considered their patron.
Athens:
This citystate was very popular for its culture and artitectural designs.The Parthenon is also located here. Its rival was Sparta just across the sea. Eventually, Sparta conquers Athens after many years of war.
Athenians:
A large group of people that developed a democracy. This was the first known democracy.
Sparta:
Sparta was the most well known powerhouse when it came to warfare. The rival of Athens, Sparta bred its people for war. They later conquered Athens and burned it to the ground.
Spartans:
Every Spartan male child was trained to be a warrior beginning at age seven. Extreme training had these boys ready for war by age twenty. Losing one's shield was a dishonorable act in war.
Hellenistic Period:
This period begins shortly after the death of Alexander The Great. This period brings about the beginning of the Roman Empire.
The Daily Life of a Greek:
Greek men could be full citizens, make important decisions, fight in the army, and met in public. Greek women stayed in the home but were taught how to read and write.
Greek Government:
The Greeks had lots of governments because of how many cities they had. Athens was a city that had a democracy and same for all the rest.
Alexander The Great:
He was the leader of a army that took India,Persia,and Egypt. Alexander died young after the battles at age 33.
Parthenon:
The Parthenon was to honnor Athea the protecter of Athens. The Parthenon is located on top of a hill in Athens. Pericles was the leader who built the Parthenon.
The greek's social structure was different for every city some had slaves that could own land some could not. This social structure is athens.
Poseidon:
The god of the sea and earthquakes.His brothers are Hades god of the underworld and Zeus god of the sky and storms.
Zeus:
The god of the sky and storms. He is the king of all the gods.He banished the titans.
Hades:
The god of the underworld. He controls the dead. He hates his brothers.
