We got involved in ww2 because of Japan because Japan wanted to seem more powerful by expanding their land. And the us put borders around Hawaii because that's the closest state towards the sea or closer to Japan. But Japan bombed Pearl Harbor(Hawaii navy base). So we declared war on Japan. And Japan was on the side of Germany because they both wanted power after the lose of WWI. So it became war.
One major event of WWII for the us was d day. On June 6 1944 on the beach of Normandy France was a big success for the is called d-day. This day was a surprise attack. In this battle the us had the goal of taking the Nazi’s down or stop them. In this attack over 160,00 alie troops lanes on the beach. More than 5,00 ships and 13,000 air crafts.even though over 9,000 Allies died it was a big success for the us. A step in the right direction.
Europe got involved in WWII because of Japan and Germany wanting to expand after their loss in WWI. So they wanted to seem more powerful than before so they were trying to expand. They got together only because they had the same goal to expand. After Japan bombed the us the us then declared war on Japan. So then Japan/Axis was now involved in WWII.
How bad was the holocaust you ask? The kid friendly definition for holocaust is, sacrifice by fire.It all began on April 1 1933, when the nazis began terrorizing Jews, Catholics, Serbs, Gypsies and handicapped people. Why did Hitler even think about the idea of killing all of those people anyways? Well there are two main reasons why: 1- Hitler hated Jews 2- he was mad because Germany lost WWI.
On September 2 1945 was when WWII ended when the axis surrendered. Germany surrendered fist on May 8 1945 a week after Adolf Hitler committed suicide. Then in Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan the us dropped an atomic bomb on August 6 and 9 1945. But Japan surrendered in August 15 1945. But they formally surrendered on September 2 1945 that ended WWII.

My grandpa was a very important man. He was involved in WWII in the United States Army Air Corps during 1941- 1947. Two years later, he was in the Air Force. During the Air Force, he first flew a Single Engine Plane and then he flew a Double Engine Plane and then he eventually piloted a B-24 Liberator. What’s a B-24 Liberator you ask? A B-24 was a plane that had two engines. It could carry a lot. Up to 8,800 pounds!! But it was a challenge to fly being the pilot. There were more B-24 planes than any other American airplane ever built. The plane had a top speed of 187 miles per hour. It was like torture to the men because they had no food and it was 50 degrees below zero which could be deadly but they wanted to fight for their country. There was basically no room in the plane so it was always crowded. Somehow my grandpa survived it but at the age of 89 he sadly passed away.
