PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
HEALTHY EATING ON A BUDGET
BY KATHLEEN MCCARVER
2.
PLAN YOUR MEALS
Plan your breakfasts, lunches, and dinners for the week.
Make a list of all the ingredients you’ll need to make your meals.
Plan around food allergies.
3.
STICK TO THE LIST
Don’t buy anything outside of the list.
If you see something you really want, incorporate it into your budget for next time.
4.
MAKE YOUR OWN MEALS
Don’t eat out.
It’s expensive.
Cook at home.

5.
MAKE LARGE MEALS
And, save the rest as leftovers.
This will save money.
Make sure you make these meals out of inexpensive ingredients.
6.
HOW TO SHOP
Don’t grocery shop when you’re hungry. It will make it harder to stick to just the list.
Buy whole (less processed) ingredients. A block of cheese is less expensive than cheese shreds.
Brown rice and oats are cheaper than most cereals.
This kind of food is often sold in larger quantities, and they yield more servings per package.
7.
HOW TO SHOP PT 2
Don’t buy junk food. There’s no nutritional value; so, you’re not getting your bang for your buck.
Buy generic brands. Great Value may taste worse than name brands, but it’s much cheaper.
8.
HOW TO SHOP PT 3
Buy cheaper cuts of meat
Replace meat with other proteins as much as possible.
Take advantage of sales. Stock up on whatever is being discounted.
