Deadlines/Responsibilities

  • Are of utmost importance. The news is always TIMELY. The news industry never takes a day off.
  • The paper must provide quality advertisements and photographs to catch the consumers’ interest.

Newspaper Job Responsiblities

  • Interview the Mayor and the Judge.
  • Put ads in newspaper.
  • Design and publish paper to sell.

ELEMENTS FOR GOOD REPORTING ARE:

  • Being ACCURATE/TRUTHFUL – reporters verify facts by finding two or more people who can confirm information and by editing and proofing for errors. Being CONCISE – be brief and cover the most important W’s (who and what always first and then the where, when, why and how if necessary. Being TIMELY – the most up-to-date/current information as possible.

ELEMENTS FOR GOOD REPORTING ARE:

  • Being FAIR/BALANCED – report both sides of an issue and try to give each equal time or space to the issue. (such as those in favor and those opposed)
  • Being OBJECTIVE/ETHICAL – keeping the reporters’ own opinion out of the story.
