  • Harriet tubman was a great abolitionist because
  • She was a great conductor of the under ground railroad
  • She led hundreds of slaves to freedom
  • She was a spy for the union during the civil war

CONDUCTOR OF THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD

  • Harriet Tubman made 19 trips to Maryland and helped 300 people to freedom
  • During her journey she helped rescue her 70 year old parents
  • Harriet never failed to deliver her passengers and was never captured

HOW SHE LED HUNDREDS OF SLAVE TO FREEDOM

  • She lead them to a secret network of safe houses so they could rest
  • She guided 11 fugitives to former slave Fredrick Douglas house
  • She later became a leader in the abolitionist movement

HARRIET TUBMAN SPY FOR THE UNION

  • During the war she worked as a nurse,cook,and spy
  • She recruited 150 slaves for a gunboat raid
  • She gathered key information about confederate positions

CLOSING STATEMENT

  • Although harriet tubman is dead and gone she is still
  • An icon for American citizens today
