POPULATION

  • a group of individuals of the same species occupying a particular geographic area.
  • Ex: there are over 7,000,000,000 people on earth.
  • Non ex: we don't have anything to eat in this house

SPECIES

  • the basic category of biological classification, composed of related individuals that resemble one another, are able to breed among themselves, but are not able to breed with members of another species and reproduce.
  • Ex: humans and animals are the only species on earth
  • Non ex: we are trying to find out if aliens are a species
