Consumerism

By: Anton N. and Dylan R.

Wait, what is Consumerism?

  • Consumerism is how citizens spend their money after they receive their income.
  • But, consumerism gets out of hand, as many citizens are willing to spend TOO much and begin to fall into debt.
  • Consumerism is a problem we face in the United States today, and it can affect our society's future.

"He-y, Come on Ou-t!"

  • Towards the ending, it seems that everything thrown into the hole finds its way to another place, starting out w/ a pebble. Then the story ends there. (http://www.enotes.com/topics/hey-come-on-out)
  • All the mania and destruction being thrown into the hole relates to how citizens spend their money in the economy, it all goes down hill.

Reasons consumerism can impact our future..

  • Our economy will drift into a debt that will seem bottomless, meaning no generation can afford to pay it. (http://www.paggu.com/business/world-economy/the-effects-of-consumerism/)
  • Many families will fall into debt, and if they cannot receive the money to pay it off they will have to eventually move and begin a new chapter in life, most likely in another country.
  • Consumerism, like relating to "He-y, Come on Ou-t!" seems never ending, will we get out of the habit of it? Possibly, but the economic clock has different view-points.

All in all, consumerism is an important topic to our economy. It should be taken seriously and families should start taking action. Thanks for watching our presentation on consumerism!
