DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

Eye vision.

~Diabetic Retinopathy
+ It is a condition that occurs as a result of damaged blood vessels of the retina in people who have diabetes.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS

  • Floaters of dark spots appearing in your vision
  • Difficulty seeing at night
  • Blurred vision
  • Loss of vision
  • Difficulty distinguishing colors

The "causes" of Diabetic Retinopathy are mainly just excess levels of sugar in the blood.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF TEST AND PROCEDURES

  • Dialated eye exams
  • Fluorescen angiography test may also be performed
  • OCT Exams

RISK FACTORS

  • Poor control of your blood sugar levels
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol
  • Pregnancy
  • Tobacco use

TREATMENTS

  • Laser phototcoagulation surgery
  • Scatter laser treatment
  • Vitrectomy

PREVENTION

  • Maintain healthy blood pressure
  • Have healthy blood sugar
  • Have healthy cholesterol
  • Dont smoke or quit if so
  • Doing regular, moderate exercises several times a week
