  • The ingredients
  • 1/3 cup of butter
  • 2/3 white sugar
  • 2 eggs 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 egg yolk
  • Tablespoon water

  • How it's made
  • You preheat the oven to 375 degrees
  • In a large bowl cream together the butter and sugar
  • Beat the eggs one at a time then stir vanilla
  • Combine the flour, cocoa and baking powder stir into the cream mixture until well blended and mix the walnuts and chocolate chips
  • Divide dough into two equal parts and place on baking sheet 4 inches apart brush with mixture of water and yolk
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes cool on baking sheet for 30 minutes
  • Slice the loaves diagonally into 1 inch slices return it to the baking sheet placing it on their side shake for 10 to 15 minutes each side
  • Cool completely

It seemed easy to make and I wanted to bring in an Italian dessert
