0-2 - How babies see illustrations. How long they sit still. Simple content, repetition, rhyming, bright colors, interaction.
2-4 - Concept books about letters and numbers. Nursery rhymes. Word books for vocabulary. Picture books with simple plots, strong illustrations, doing things kids are proud of. Wordless books good.
4-7 - Increasing independence and learning about world. Interact with other kids and begin school. Beginning reader books to practice reading.
7-9 Becoming readers and begin to try to understand the perspectives. Consider past and future. Starting novels.
9-14 - ready for more complicated plots. Historical and sci--fi. See other perspectives
14-18 - Ready for tougher issues and readingf.
