It is about a young boy called Crispin, who is declared a fugitive by the steward of his village. He runs away and is hunted by the steward and his men. He meets a friend called Bear and travels with him to the city, where he learns the truth about himself and manages to win his freedom.

FUN FACTS

  • They travelled and traded over very long distances
  • You didn’t have to get married in church
  • Peasants were not allowed to hunt on the lord's land. Punishment for killing a deer was sometime death
  • Noble girls often married at 12 years old and boys at 14.
  • People mostly drank ale or wine. The water was bad and would make them sick.
